synopsis

WHEN A TRAGEDY occurs at their Quebec school, a class of youngsters needs a new teacher. Enter Bachir Lazhar, an Algerian refugee, who must also help his charges cope with the trauma stemming from the tragedy. What the kids don’t know, however, is that Bachir also needs healing from the trauma in his own past. This is a poignant, winning tale, a nominee for the 2012 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In association with the High Commission of Canada and RBC Royal Bank.
